There are actually two intros in the game, one which contains the heroes and another version with the villains of the game. The Heroes intro plays when the game starts up, and the villains version plays after waiting at the title screen.

Rosalina's voice clips are recycled from Mario Kart 7, which includes unused dialogue from said game.

In the European release, the exclamation marks are missing from the animation for Birdie, Eagle, and Albatross. One is present in the Hole-in-One animation, however the Hole-in-One words that appear are different, reading "HOLE-IN-ONE!", while the American release reading "HOLE IN ONE!!".
